Removes the noise generator. The last 2 pics are the location of the hole the tube goes into near the firewall, and the plug used to close the hole.

What sort of change are you hearing in the cabin after this DIY? Is it significantly quieter? Is the tone different?

What is the diameter of the plug needed for the firewall? I grabbed the other stuff at Advanced Auto yesterday for $8.

I got a 3/4" poly plug in Lowe's plumbing section that fit. I only removed the tube that leads into the cabin - and left the other compartments attached to the intake alone... so all I used was the 41-44mm plug, and the 3/4" poly plug. Cheap fix. I took a quick drive, and didn't notice much change, certainly no tire chirping.

If all you're looking to do is eliminate the sound generator, and not the resonators as well... I got the 3/4" poly plug at lowes in plumbing (home depot didn't have anything that worked) and the expand tite 41-44mm at Advanced Auto. $4 total. You wont even need a metal clamp for the expand tite because there's already one on there holding the tube that leads to the sound generator.

This was incredibly easy to do. I was unable to find the 3/4 poly, but a 1/2 pvc plug with the thread on the outside fit just fine (I left the grommet in the firewall and screwed the plug into that).

The noise was fun, but I prefer the quieter ride to be honest.

Doubtful, you can replace the whole inlet tube though and possibly pick up a couple whp. Perrin and a couple others are selling them.

Perrin also has an inlet hose that comes with a engine side vacuum plug. But since I am saving up for the supercharger, I haven't jumped on it.
