Subaru BRZ spy shots below were taken over the weekend while testing was being done on the Nurburgring.

These Subaru BRZ pictures should help clear up any confusion on the final design since this might be the last set of spy shots we see before the Subaru BRZ concept unveiling at the LA Auto Show next month.

Subaru BRZ makes a b-line for the Nurburgring

The Subaru BRZ is inching closer to production as our spies have snapped new pictures of the highly-anticipated model.
Caught undergoing testing near the Nürburgring, the heavily camouflaged prototype looks virtually identical to the Toyota FT-86 but is distinguished by a revised front bumper and LED daytime running lights.
Motivation is expected to be provided by a 2.0-liter boxer engine with approximately 200 hp (149 kW /203 PS). It will be connected to a six-speed transmission which sends power exclusively to the rear wheels.
A BRZ concept could debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, before the production model is unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show later this year.

2012 Subaru BRZ Coupe Shows Its Face Again, Revealing New Details [Spy Shots]

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, recently announced that Subaru’s new rear-wheel drive sports car, which is currently under joint development with Toyota Motor Corporation, will be named “SUBARU BRZ”. Now, in addition to the previous spy shots, we can show you a new set of photos, revealing some new details of this car.

The manufacturer claims that the initial BRZ stands for-“boxer engine”, “rear-wheel drive”, “zenith” and embodies ultimate passion for the new sports car and confidence in its distinctive trademark and core technology: the “Horizontally-Opposed Subaru Boxer engine”.

As you can see in the photogallery below, the BRZ comes with a mildly sculpted bumper houses a large air inlet, fog lights, and integrated lip spoiler at the front. In addition to that, at the rear, a mock diffuser surrounds a dual-outlet exhaust with another small spoiler integrated into the trunk.

Planned for production from spring 2012, the upcoming model will take its power from a newly developed 2.0 liter four-cylinder boxer engine with direct injection delivering 200 hp to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual or auto box. However, the vehicle could also come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter unit delivering around 300 hp.

Stay tuned for more details because the Subaru BRZ could make its official debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show, with the car set to hit the market in the first half of next year.

Spy Shots: More Details On The Subaru BRZ

With just two months before its official debut at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show, the production version of the Subaru BRZ concept has been caught testing once again, this time revealing slightly more details than before. The car is still heavily camouflaged, but you can easily notice a design language similar to the one used on the BRZ’s cousin, the Toyota FT-86.

The Subaru BRZ will be offered with a new generation 2.0-liter, four-cylinder boxer engine and combined with a manual or automatic transmission. It is believed that for the STI version, the output will go up to about 300 HP. People have been discussing whether the BRZ will be an all-wheel-drive or a RDW model, but Subaru has officially confirmed that the engine will send its power to the rear wheels.

The Subaru BRZ will go on sale starting next year with a base price of under $25,000, while the STI may hit $35,000.

The Toyota and Subaru version look way too similar. Not liking that at all. I thought they would have been more of a difference.
