It might be the new BRZ sports coupe of Subaru but it sounds like a Toyota and looks too like a Toyota.

At the danger of duplicating ourselves, the Toyota 86 sports coupe and the Subaru BRZ project were a combined effort between the two giant car making companies of Japan.

Toyota New Zealand has arrived this year with a comprehensive 86 ranges and it conquered soon after its launch. The current year also witnessed the car bagging back to back titles; among them were Performance car of the year by the Driven’s and, Motoring Writers Guild’s and AA top car of the year award.

In this month when the Subaru BRZ gets launched in the New Zealand there might be a question in the mind of the people that what else is left in it to make it an out of the ordinary one.

Obviously, the answer to it can be the following couple of factors. The first one is undoubtedly the exclusivity of Subaru and along with it is the fact that it is all wheel driven and rear drive BRZ is additional “niche curiosity”.
The second thing that certainly distinguishes Subaru from the other contemporary cars and makes it special is that it has a contraction with a lick of pink color. STI is the producers renowned Motorsports vertical also notable for the brand’s most exhilarating cars plying on the road for the last 22 years.

The Subaru New Zealand reckons that there is some mileage factor in the making of its originality, from the list of accessories of STI; it has manufactured a package of parts for the customers which are scheduled to be offered in the next year.

Wallis Dumper, managing director of Subaru NZ quoted that,” We have tried our best to manufacture a car to a price.” “Because of the privacy that environs the Toyota-Subaru relationship, we do not know when the original STI car will arrive. Definitely there will be a one, but it is just a matter of time that when it will. But what we are conveying to the people is that you can certainly have a one right now.”

Subaru does not put forward a bargain price entry type model like the Toyota: for the six speed manual at $48,990 the BRZ opens, with a $1000 installment for the automatic. A 2 litre boxer four is placed under the bonnet with a diffident 205Nm of torque and 147kW.

The small car is a light, responsive and communicative one irrespective of the presence of the badge in the front. At any speed it truly feels an entertaining, which is one of the rare and the major trick for a sports car of any category to pull off.

The enthusiasts will be no dilemma as they have the third reason why BRZ is much more admirable than its 86 siblings is the authenticity of it. It may be joint project but both the cars are manufactured on a Subaru platform, supported by a Subaru engine.
