I’m using a UniChip module myself, easy to install and remove, and leaves no finger print (I don’t want to have any warranty issues with Subaru come service time, so I take it out, takes about 20 mins). Not sure if UniChip’s claim of 10-15hp increase, and 10 torque are accurate as I haven’t had it dyno’d, but you can definitely feel the gain @ 5000 to 7400 rpm. I’m also running an Invidia cat back exhaust, if you get the communication cable as well, you can re-map the unit based on your performance additions. For about $500 (with cable) it’s one of the less expensive and easiest chip mods you can get.
As mentioned, this is a plug and play unit, so no evidence is left behind when you take it out that any chip mods have been applied to the OEM mapping.
