Late to the convo, do you still have your BRZ?

Using the clutch to rev match instead of using your throttle will not greatly harm your clutch. That's the clutch's job, matching revs for you. Your clutch will likely last longer than your car if you don't do stupid shit and burn your clutch.

That said, using throttle to rev match is something I recommend doing on every downshift. Even if you can't get the perfect throttle amount, you can then use the clutch to finish the rest of the rev matching, this still saves a little bit of your clutch, though negligible. You get more satisfaction by blipping the throttle and matching the rev perfectly by yourself.

Using throttle to rev match, is a must-have skill on track. Using only clutch to rev match is simply too slow. You'll also need to learn heel & toe downshift for track driving.

I never rest my hand on the shift knob. I'm prob gonna offend a lot of people, but I just think that looks super stupid, and whoever thinks that's cool, is even more stupid, plus it's not good for your transmission. I appreciate drivers who put their hands where they belong behind the steering wheel.
